Jon King Career: 1981 – 1989

If you are a fan of a man who can power bottom with the best and biggest, Jon King is the guy for you. His tight, athletic, boyishly muscular body, combined with dark eyes, and vulnerability made him a star . Jon King’s start in adult films came with the 1981 film Brothers Should Do It, where he was billed as Jon King, the younger brother of J. W. King (another sexy dark haired porn icon.) As it seemed to be with most young pron actors, he had a few run ins with the law. In 1982 he stole a car on a test drive, robbed a Burger King in Gainesville FL then wrecked the car which led to eleven months in prison. After his release he was back to what he, at the time, he loved the most, being in front of the camera. One of his most memorable scenes was in a hot tub with veteran adult star Kip Noll in 1984’s Kip Noll – Superstar. The chemistry and intense sexuality between these two men was a directors dream come true and was the highlight of this title. Before retiring in 1989, he performed with most of the hottest male stars of the 80’s and 90’s, making him one of busiest men in the business.

Handbooks pick: Kip Noll – Superstar

Lee Ryder Career:1982-1986

Lee Ryder starred in just thirteen gay films from 1982 to 1986, but photographs of his image appeared in dozens of gay porn magazines. His text book 10 inch cock, piercing eyes, bad-boy good looks and lean frame made him an overnight sensation. He was one of the first porn stars whos career transitioned from 8mm film to VHS in the early 80’s. Ryder’s first performance as a gay porn actor was in the film All American Boys, but it was not released until after his first film for Falcon Studios, Huge, which  released in 1982. Huge was just the beginning for Ryder and his place as one of the most recognizable gay film superstars was inevitable.

Old Reliable
The work of David Hurles
1968 – 1980 (estimated body of work)

David Hurles was a true pioneer of male erotica and turned blue collar, hard working real men into visions of masturbatory delight. He brought to our attention a subject matter that was truly masculine and raw, trashy and sexy and unlike anything at that time. Old Reliables images and videos were the real deal and far from the tanned and posed muscle gods of studios such as AMG, Falcon or Colt. There is a man here for every taste and fantasy. Hairy or smooth, tattooed, long hair, short hair or bald. He captured images of porn stars on the fringe  and sometimes your boy next door. Thugs, ex-cons and street trash, hung guys to average guys. And with  such a variety of subjects the one thing that remained the common denominator was always raw masculine sexuality. These guys would oil wrestle with each other, work on cars wearing only a tool belt then jack off using engine oil. Some of them would strip naked, preform jumping jacks and push-ups then pump out a load. Cigars and cigarettes were sexual accessories as well was the middle finger flipping off Hurles camera. Old Reliable has fantastic videos of each guy, with live sound, as they discuss their lives, strip, oil up, get it up, pose, show off and shoot a load. There are tapes devoted to just one model captured over a number of days or weeks. Some, like Kermit or Mike “The Spike”, have worked with Old Reliable over a number of years and get hotter and hotter with each new tape. Some models have in addition done audio tapes as they get into some very intense dirty talking and discussion of sex scenes they’ve experienced. The most amazing thing about Old Reliable and David Hurles work is how powerful these seemingly amateur snapshots are and how the true word “macho” translated perfectly through his lens. A boner for sure!

The Fair hosts over 200 international presses, booksellers, antiquarian dealers, and independent artist/publishers presenting a diverse range of the best in contemporary art publications.

The Chin Curtain: This is a style of facial hair more associated with the Amish community and yes, very sexy. The style is marked by facial hair grown only along the lower portion of the face at the chin and following the jaw line. While many Amish men still wear traditional chin curtains, some variations of today are seen trimmed into ultra thin lines and even patterns along the jaw.
The Goatee with Moustache (Van Dyck): By adding the moustache to the goatee, you end up with a different look that has as much variety as seen in the regular goatee style. This too has been seen inlong and close-trimmed variants, and shaped to be more square or rounder, depending on the shape of the wearer’s face. And like the goatee-only version, is modernized by close-trimmed and thin variants.
The Handlebar Moustache: The handlebar moustache is characterized by the fact that it must be worn long enough to curl the ends of the moustache upward. This is usually achieved and maintained throug the use of specialized styling pomade or wax.
The Fu Manchu: The name comes from a popular film from the late 60’s called “The Many Lives of Dr. Fu Manchu”. No joke. The Fu Manchu is characterized by its position over the lip and extension down each side of the mouth to the jaw.
Mutton Chops: In the 70’s, the Mutton Chop style of sideburns was popularized by Elvis Presley, although it has been seen throughout history. Mutton chop sideburns are characterized by being grown in wide swaths down the sides of the face and ending usually at the curve of the jaw, although they can be worn as far down as to almost touch the corners of the mouth.
Friendly Mutton Chops: This style takes mutton chops and combines them with the moustache to create one continuous line of facial hair. Traditionally, the style was worn in a wide, full swath of facial hair, but can also be more closely-trimmed and thin, although the line can often follow varied patterns as it makes its way across the face.
and lastly, but certainly not least…
The Full Beard: The Full Beard facial hair style is characterized by its coverage of all three basic areas of the face – upper lip, chin and sides. The full beard typically is only minimally groomed at   the neck area, at the lip-line and along the cheeks. Fully-bearded men sometimes prefer to grow the beard hair long, and style it into any number of shapes, from tapered points to rounded and bushy swells of hair.
Final note: If you decide to toss the razor, grow a style that fits your face and personality. Facial hair is fuckin’ sexy, so go ahead and let it
do it’s thing. An unshaven man is a hot man.

Chris and I met a while back at the infamous Powerhouse Bar here in San Francisco. At that time his job was holding him back from showing off his goods.
